New Dynasty
13th Apr: Brighid, back from Musselburgh, was again attacked by new swans. SSPCA attended, took her away for treatment, transferring her to their Wildlife Rescue Centre in Alloa to recover. A brilliant team of dedicated swan lovers was on hand helping to save poor Brighid’s life again!
6th May: SSPCA reported that Brighid had been released back into the wild, location unknown. Meanwhile the new pair have made themselves at home – building a nest; in mid-April, five eggs were spotted, the pair taking it in turns incubating them.
30th May: Two cygnets spotted on nest with the female. What a brilliant sight after months of uncertainty whether there would be any cygnets at all?
1st June: FIVE cygnets were paddling about with their parents not far from the safety of their nest. Each day the cygnets become more adventurous and accompany their parents all over the pond. It’s great to watch them feeding and swimming about – always with their parents in very close proximity!
