Volunteer

We have an active group of volunteers performing various tasks to look after the hill and our charity. There’s always room for more people to help out and there are a number of ways of doing so; we have options to suit your diary, your skills and abilities, and your level of engagement.
Sunday Volunteering Sessions

We run a volunteering session on the first and third Sunday of each month from 2pm until 4pm, where we carry out practical tasks around the LNR. We try to vary the tasks around the hill at each session, such as planting trees, pruning and cutting back encroaching vegetation, scraping muddy paths, wildlife surveys, litter picking and removing invasive species.
Our volunteer coordinators are trained first-aiders and have several years’ experience running these sessions throughout the many habitats on the hill. FECH work hard to ensure everyone stays safe, feels that they have made a difference to the LNR and have had a little fun doing so. We always make time for a cuppa and biscuit break so we can chat and bird watch!
No particular skills are required, but some level of fitness would be beneficial as we often walk up the hill carrying tools and plants.
We organise these sessions using an app called Spond which allows us to inform volunteers about the upcoming tasks, the health and safety information, where to meet, and any changes in plans. Please email us at friends@eastercraiglockharthill.org if you would like to join our volunteer list.
Volunteer From Home

Several of our volunteers help with tasks they perform at home; editing the newsletter, creating posters, web site maintenance, social media posting, arranging events, trustees etc. If you have some time you would wish to devote to helping out with FECH then please get in touch with us and we can discuss which activities you may wish to contribute to.
It may suit those who find it difficult to attend practical sessions on the hill but would still like to help out and make a difference.
