Yesterday (6th Oct) the SSPCA picked up two cygnets that were found wandering around in Lockharton Avenue. The cygnets have now been safely re-homed to the “social” pond at the foot of Arthur’s Seat. Another was picked up in the evening and has now joined it’s siblings in their new home.
We understand that (at the time of writing) there were three more cygnets left on the pond and one which seems to trapped behind the fence in the reed bed. The SSPCA are aware of the situation and are planning to take appropriate action.
The SSPC have said that they will not remove the remaining cygnets unless they appear to be distressed or having a problem.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the team from the SSPCA for all the efforts and to all those who phoned to alert them of the situation.
