Meggatland Leisure Centre
Sunday 6th January, 4.00pm

We plan to apply to the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) to become a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO). Many other Friends Groups have taken this step.

We would become a registered charity and our Committee members would become SCIO trustees with a much higher degree of protection from personal liability. We would have a legal identity (we don’t at present) which would make it easier to contract, employ staff and conduct business generally. SCIO status would also make it easier to secure external grant funding.

Our objectives would be unchanged and there would be no significant changes to the way we do things but please do not let that put you off attending – we need a quorum to make this change.

A copy of the draft SCIO Constitution can be downloaded here

Come along to the EGM if you would like to hear more about and discuss this proposed change.
