Hill Patrol

Hill Patrol is designed to provide an easy way for anyone to contribute to caring for the LNR. No specialist skills are required. Patrols can be conducted at your own leisure and during the course of everyday activities on the hill.

The aim is to increase the number of eyes we have on the hill, to help monitor wildlife and human use, identify maintenance requirements, and alert us to any other issues.

Data collected from Patrols will be used to create an historic record of activities in the LNR and to direct Human Resources and funds towards the most appropriate areas. We hope to attract a strong core of Patrollers who produce regular data which will help to paint a picture of how the LNR evolves over time.

Patrol data is recorded on a Patrol Log contained on short Google Document which can be found below. It takes no more than 5 minutes to complete and can be done after returning home from the hill.

Prospective patrollers are invited to attend a short on-line or in-person induction during which training will be given on the kinds of things to look out for while patrolling, and how to report them. However, if you are familiar with Google Docs or the Patrol process, feel free to just crack-on. We look forward to receiving your data!

To register for either on-line or in-person induction sessions, please e-mail: [email protected] or keep an eye on our social media channels for the next drop-in session.

…and that’s it, you’re good to go!
