Sunday Volunteering

  • Next Session

It’s willow cutting time. The willow around the LNR is starting to go yellow so it’s time for its annual trim back. We’ll be taking long rods of willow from in front of the gym, the pirate ship and willow tunnel and using them to bolster the orchard rings and willow structures. There’s also mulch to barrow onto the meadow path. Plenty to do and plenty to keep warm doing!

  • Sunday 11 October

We headed up to Craighouse at the site of the old croquet lawn (now a car park), and showed some love to the small narrow meadow which had been recently scythed. While we were there we made a start on beating up some of the trees planted here and close by. Plus we wanted to remove some of the wooden piles over our snowdrops and bluebells. Lots of fresh air and lots of good vibes!

  • Sunday 20 September

We looked to maintain the pathway behind the tennis centre: The snowdrop patch which had collapsed a little onto the path. The encroaching trees were taken back a little. The muddy path just inside the gate at the pond was scraped. The small meadow was scythed, and the teasel patch needed a haircut too.

  • Sunday 5 September

This session we cut back the privet beside the pond to enhance the view and the keep air flowing along to keep the path dry(ish). We also gave the causeway some tlc too by removing grass from between the cobbles making it less slippery.
