Events Programme
Events organised by the Friends of Easter Craiglockhart Hill are listed here as they are planned. Come back regularly to see the latest!
Sunday Volunteering Session
Sundays, 2.00 – 4.00pm
- Next Session

It’s willow cutting time. The willow around the LNR is starting to go yellow so it’s time for its annual trim back. We’ll be taking long rods of willow from in front of the gym, the pirate ship and willow tunnel and using them to bolster the orchard rings and willow structures. There’s also mulch to barrow onto the meadow path. Plenty to do and plenty to keep warm doing!
If you’d like to join in a Sunday Volunteering Session, it is essential that you contact friends@eastercraiglockharthill.org first, so we can keep an eye numbers and requirements. We love having enthusiastic volunteers, but please don’t just turn up unannounced!

Geology Walk
Saturday 7 November 2026
10.30am – 12.30pm
Local geologist Angus Miller will lead a walk to explore the geology of Easter Craiglockhart Hill and find out how it fits into the wider landscape. Discover the layers of lava formed by volcanic eruptions around 350 million years ago, and find out what happened to the rest of the volcano!

Fungi Walk
Sunday 15 November 2026
11.00am – 1.00pm (or later!)
Come along and find out all about funky fungi! This walk and talk will cover all things mycological. We will be hunting down as many types of mushroom and fungi on the Hill, and learning how to identify them.
Open to all, but FECH Members get priority booking. Members will be emailed with full details and how to book approximately two weeks before the event. If you’re not a Member yet, JOIN NOW!
Children are usually welcome with an accompanying adult, although some events are restricted to children over 12 years old.
The events are often FREE, but a donation to FECH to support this and other activities around the hill would be very welcome.
